Untitled thought #80

— I don’t post as often anymore, and it isn’t because I’ve chosen to be neglectful. It’s simply because I missed the essence of expression. When I was 15 I used to blog every single day. It’s how I learned how to write. I wrote so vulnerably and nakedly without any contemplation as to who or how many people were reading. It’s difficult to be so open these days when I write and in the back of my mind I know there’s an audience. Who wants to censor themselves because we’re mindful of who’s watching? Let it be known I have not abandoned this… I simply and authentically just want to post when I feel inspired to do so. I simply and authentically just want to post when it makes me feel like I’m 15 all over again and all I want to do is Share.

Carmela Antonio Sessions: “Blindside”

[Ladies and Gentlemen, Miss Carmela Antonio]

At the beginning of this summer, my homegirl Carmela approached me to work on a series of videos helping her promote the release of her ‘Paper Dolls‘ EP. Inspired by the intimate and inviting space of her bachelorette apartment, we decided to do these acoustic takeaway shows (with Oscar Dominguez on percussion!) at her home, with a full audio recording studio set up. Collaborating with audio engineers Max and Rob, and the editing savvy of my good friend Justin Borja of Black Suits & Broken Hearts, we came up with the Carmela Antonio Sessions. Welcome to the first video we’ll be releasing: “Blindside”. Consider this a very Happy Birthday greeting, from all of us;)

Untitled thought #79

— It’s okay to choose Love, when your heart feels wronged. It’s okay to choose Love, when someone has broken your spirit. It’s okay to choose Love, when all you want to do is feel right, or justified, or avenged. It’s okay to choose Love, when they don’t want to love you back. It’s okay to choose Love, because it makes You the Courageous one.

Handle Yourself.

There’s no point in feeling insecure about your complexities. They are what is most beautiful about You. You are not Too Much. You are not Too Much, at all. You are enough. Yes, You. Just as you are. You are not simple — layers uncovering more layers, and colors, and shapes, and patterns. You are unique and one of a kind — the imprint you leave on this Earth is unlike any other. Through time and space, there has and only ever will be, One You.

I love that about You. There really is nobody else like You.

The greatest thing about your complexities, is that they can be so heart wrenchingly challenging, but that doesn’t come without the most fulfilling reward. That is, You, at your fullest potential. The Best version of You. The version you never knew existed.

Complexity brings dimension, it brings new perspective, different smells, and textures, and sounds you’ve never heard. Complexity brings the Fun, the Dangerous, the Exciting, the Angry, the Sad, the Depressingly Sad, the Furious, the Extreme, the Adventurous, the Loving, the Caring, the Hilarious, the Evil, the Good, the Confident, the Meek, the… Everything.

You show us why Life is worth living, and living Real Good.

Handle your complexities. You’ve come this far… it’s worth going all the way.

I’ve spoken my piece.
Peace.
