THANKS but NO THANKS.

[Piece of sh*t restaurant that can go lick monkey balls]

You know what’s irritating?! UGH! UGGGHHH!! Like grossness to the tenth power. I’m so annoyed by what’s probably the smallest thing but honestly, I’ve seen so much of the crookery in the past week that it makes my blood boil seeing how people run their businesses sometimes. First it was my roommate having to deal with the bullsh*t corporate money grubbing snakes better known as BELL and BLACKBERRY (honestly… I want to hurl my own puke at the both of them. I HATE my blackberry, I HATE Bell, I’m getting an iPhone. That simple.)

And now, tonight, I dealt with someone trying to SNAKE me over freaking SHISHA.

Merry Christmas

[My Christmas present to myself… a fresh new pack of post-its, and my favorite pens]

It’s funny, you would think I’d feel lonely waking up to Christmas morn all by myself in my house… but I don’t at all. For me, to have had the last couple of weeks in constant commotion and busyness, waking up to peace and quiet in the epicenter of Downtown Toronto feels incredible. No one is drilling concrete, nobody is driving outside, it is complete silence and gratitude.

Untitled thought #46

And you wonder why some of the most raddest independent go-getter cool chicks haven’t been scooped up yet… The truth is, when it comes to Love, insecurity is covered up by over-confidence, fear of being too vulnerable is masked by pride, and the idea of compromise and sharing one’s life is fronted with an adamant “I don’t need anyone.” It requires so much self-patience and humility to acknowledge that maintaining that image isn’t worth the sacrifice of learning how to Love Unconditionally. Tis a Choice, mi compadre…

The Big Girl Tea Party

[Yup, those are mini creme brulees]

I simply LOVED playing tea party as a little girl. Play tea sets seemed to be a popular present of choice back then, especially considering it’s what I received on my birthday and Christmas during one year. Who would’ve thought that  those same fond memories of feeling princessey and regal could come creeping back on us to remind us… that we’re all little Princesses inside *super creepy cheesey smile*.

Celebrating Her Highness the Queen Nadine’s beautiful born day, the Ladies of the Court were summoned by Her Highness to gather in the Grand Tea Room for High Tea.

A Token of Loooove

My dear friends over at Pretty Freedom have been workin’ hard this winter season, stocking up on faaaabbbulous fur coats, one-of-a-kind knit sweaters and cardi’s, and collaborating with independent accessory designers to make sure they’ve got fresh goodies for potential Christmas presents. Popping into the store late Saturday evening, Jodee introdced me to the new Pretty Freedom tokens, also known as their custom-made gift certificates. Coming in increments of $25, $50, $75, $100 or whatever  your heart desires, these “tokens” given to someone special as a “token” of your appreciation, love, and respect makes for a wicked Christmas gift.

Headspace.

There’s nothing more that I love than receiving wonderful little presents in my facebook inbox. I’ve had this mixtape on repeat for the past two days, c/o of my girl DJ L’Oqenz, entitled HEADSPACE. Last night she also threw down a jam in lieu of the new mixtape, and lemme tell you, it was one of those unexpected ill vibe parties that you either catch by chance, or you miss out!  Hosted by one of my most favorite soul singers in this city and a dear friend of mine, Tanika Charles was goin offffffffff on the mic!! Lol.

LAUGH at the Granby Mansion

[Beetle Jenn and Handlez]

An impromptu house jam at the Granby Mansion last weekend. My lovely compadre and super talented dancer Jesse Catibog seems to have this habit of attending various house parties, picking up random props that peaks his intrigue, and then making everyone pose with them in front of his camera. Here are the flicks of that night — such ill vibes!

Lovehard presents: GREEN GODDESS SPA

[Catherine giving me a facial treatment]

Entering the gorgeous modern condo-turned-into-relaxation-haven, Angie and I were instantly hit with the aroma of delicious sweet and citrus ingredients. I looked around at the decor that hung on the walls and knew straight away that this was undeniably Catherine’s creative abode. Traditional Filipino quilts, and framed posters of Catherine’s plays displayed itself sharing her many talents in the arts — a traditional Filipino dancer, a playwright, writer, and now esthetician, Catherine embodies it all.

“So you want me to get naked or what?!?” I asked her, ready to strip off my clothes and get some sugary things scrubbed on my face. Changing into a towel and getting comfy on the massage table, Catherine began to work her magic on my 5 foot achey little body. As her hands ebbed like the tide, back and forth, applying pressure and releasing stresses, I asked her what got her to this point, to open up her own home spa.
