Here is the final piece I handed in for my intermediate EFP class. Looking back on it now, it was such a great learning experience being able to put an entire production together. I definitely saw where I could’ve pushed the boundary more, where I had lots of difficulty, (for example, I’ll never cast a role for my cat ever again!) but all in all, it turned out pretty good and it made everybody in my class laugh. I’m looking forward to making more pieces and challenging myself to what else is possible. Again, MUCH thanks and love to my entire production crew, Supreme Team, and all the actors and extras. Oh, and thanks Ritchie for providing the soundtrack! All music (except for techno sequence) was produced by Rich Kidd.

*licks lips* *looks up and down* *closes her eyes* *shudders shoulders and releases a, “Mmmmmm MMMMM!”* Yeah. It’s frickin’ sexy time bout to be gwanin’ this Wednesday. Thank the lord, allah, buddah, batman… Bilal’s concert with his 5-piece band has been rescheduled and I will get to enjoy his beautiful falsettos and baby-making music LIIIIIIIIIVVVVVEEEEE!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

— If you had your chance, why didn’t you take it? For a multitude of reasons perhaps out of your control, things didn’t pan out. Sometimes I think that’s true, and sometimes I think that’s just a lazy excuse. It’s all an interplay really, between your choices, your reactions, and the events that occur that are out of your control. However, opportunities sometimes comes only once in a lifetime. If you haven’t learned how to differentiate which ones are the ones worthy of the jump, then I don’t know what else to tell ya…

And then there are those moments when you wonder if you coulda done something, coulda said something, anything to change the present moment you’re in. You wonder if there existed a given timeframe in which that woulda worked, that coulda happened… And then your mind snaps back to actuality and you know it’s too late. Too much has happened. Too much has been said… The truth is, the answer would’ve been Yes. There always exists a time when choice is in the palm of your hands and what you want is attainable if you will it to be so. Like the series of moments that make up our lives, it is all too fleeting. If you are sleeping, time does what it does best — continue forward. Opportunities close  for whatever reason be known to us, the flip side of that is… something else opens up. Something new begins. I guess that’s the only thing to look forward to when your angst and frustration creeps on you. Moments are constantly coming and going, embrace the good ones, and find comfort in the thought that the bad ones will soon end….

[On the set of “House Party”]

This past week I had to shoot my 2.5 minute solo production where I had to write, storyboard, block, and produce my own script. I never really took in how much we’ve actually been learning in Intermediate EFP this past semester. The great thing about RTA is that from day one were we all thrown right into it, getting handed off our own camera and equipment to play with… I can’t wait for next year to take Advanced EFP! Bigger and badder productions, baby. Stay tuned for the finished piece… you might recognize a few familiar faces;)

It had been a minute since I frequented this hood. To think it had been more than a year since I stepped out of this same subway station that I walked in and out of everyday for a year. Spread out houses, the blaring light of Popeye’s chicken, and refreshingly, a lot of brown people, is something I can honestly say I didn’t know I missed. Mainstreet, it’s been a minute.

Almost jumping into the wrong brown man’s silver four-door, Bigglez finally showed up and scooped me. I can’t recall a moment when this jolly human is never smiling… that, and running his mouth. Lol. Having met Biggz at the start of summer, I had seen this guy around at various jams — Main Ingredient, Andy’s, this, that and rayray. All I remember of him prior to being officially introduced,  is that his presence is always made known… probably because he’s guaranteed to make a public announcement of it. ;P

Rolling up to the back parking lot of a brown brick building, Bigglez looked over and said to me smugly, “Welcome to the Chocolate Factory.”

— Essay writing blues. On another note, after today, this week should be really, really exciting. In short form: MEC interview/shoot tonight, 24Karat Tuesdays at Andy’s 1 year anniversary tomorrow, my solo production shoot/wrap up shoot for Kit Knows/Smash Brovas/Extremeties on Thursday, MEC 11 year anniversary Friday/Saturday. DAMN GINA! Let’s go!
