Recap: JORDAN YEAR, 23 Baby!

[Super photographer Angie Choi, Bboy Assault aka Hansome Clint, and Birthday Girl.]
I know, I know, it’s been a week since my epic birthday party, but for those of you who were not in the loop as to what went down in terms of the most unreal celebration I’ve ever experienced… well, well, lemme show you.

[Fab and Juan on the 1’s and 2’s!]
I first debated whether or not I wanted to go through all the trouble with putting together a birthday party. If you know me, I am a celebrator. I love to celebrate — it’s brings people together, and Life is just a worthy cause of being rejoiced in. All I knew was that the one thing I wanted for my 23rd year of life, aka my Jordan Year, was to have everyone I love and highly respect in Toronto all under my roof, to create an incredible vibration. It was all that, and more.
I have much thanks to Fab of F.A.M. bboy crew for bringing in his decks and spinning on the patio with Handlez and Sr. Juan Siez Swift. They were playing some seriously good beats, to the point of Soul Trains and top rocking circles organically emerging. Inside the living room, my broski Eyeamtheo and TFHOUSE were holdin’ it down with the chunes. The house was packed with people, and some of the comments that were being made was how awesome it was to talk to anybody in that household and that someone was an artist or hustler in the city, making movements and doing really amazing things. The energy felt unreal!

[Birthday toast! Epic Speech moment.]
At the stroke of midnight, my sister Beetle Brit shook up our infamous bottle of Bambino and poured champagne all over my head. From incessant chants for a “Speech! Speech! Speech“, I climbed up onto of my fence and raised my bottle in salute to the people who were making this the best birthday I’ve ever had in my life. The rest of the night went on, me hopping from room to room and loving/being loved by everyone. Cypher circles broke out in my bedroom, people were stoop chillin’, everyone was having a dope time. Seven cops showed up and broke up the party just as it was ending, and that was that.
BEST. BIRTHDAY. EVVEERRRRRRRR.
I’m excited for what’s to come this year. I’m a stronger, wiser, more confident and more beautiful woman than I’ve ever been. Jordan Year… let’s Michael Jordan this sh*t. Cheers! Here’s to flyin’, slammin’, dunkin’, falling down, jumpin’ up again, laughin’, cryin’, smilin’, and of course, Lovin’.
Lovehard and Prosper.
I’ve spoken my piece.
Peace.
