LA LA LAND Pt. 3 : Homeward bound
[T.O. fam meets Vancity fam]
Our last day in California needed some much deserved sun time. Instead of us traveling 3 hours via train and bus to the coast, we decided to make the most of our time by lazing by the Hilton poolside until it was time to catch out flight at LAX. This was probably the most relaxing time we had the entire trip… the Granby Girls + Jim Jam + beach/pool and sun = NO bickering and ALL lovin. Lol.
We checked out around 1pm and caught our train back to downtown Los Angeles. From there, we grabbed a flyaway bus that took us straight to LAX where we checked in for our flights and waited for our plane to Vancity…
Coming home for our second stopover before heading back to Toronto was also another major highlight of the trip. My mom had the fam jam goin at 11pm at night! We were greeted by my adorable filipino parents and their cute ass smiling faces and my mom’s lumpia shanghai, lumpia with vegetables, pancit, chicken and dessert of ice cream and strawberries. AHHHHHH!!!! My depravation of filipino food no longer exists! I love my mother’s cooking like nobody’s business. I also suuuper appreciated Beetle Brit and Jenn’s anti-meat diets being broken just for that momentous occassion. Jim Jam, having had his first filipino meal in his life, had the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on his face having my mom’s cooking. You shoulda seen Mama Loro! Beaming and grinning from ear to ear hearing the exclamations of my Toronto family.
[my godson, Jayden! and his daddy James]
My Vancity family were there to see me, meet my T.O. fam, and catch up on good times. I even got to see my baby godson Jayden (the one I send Jordans to every year for his birthday) and have officially vowed to make LOVEHARD baby tees!!
[My little bro Chad, and Mama Loro, reppin’ LOVEHARD!]
After a quick drive around Stanley Park to show the Beetles and Jim Jam the beauty that is Vancity, we crashed for a few hours before my brother drove us back to YVR to catch our flight…
It was a great, GREAT way to end our trip. I loved seeing my Mami and Papi, even if it was for a few hours. Every time I come home it’s a reminder of how far I’ve come since I’ve left, and how far I still have yet to go in my future.
I’m home now, and it feels like I’ve been gone for a good minute. I have a stupid pile of work on my plate and non-stop meetings/interviews/work/workshops/training and STILL trying to figure out how I am going to fit in additional meetings this week… It’s alllll worth it. This summer is soon coming to an end and school is going to commence again in two weeks. Exciting things are ahead…
Work hard, play hard, and lovehard, all day….
